Description
Block 1988 is a honed Taj Mahal Quartzite slab and is in stock in Sydney. Light grey-cream base broken by near-vertical fractures and wavy beige-taupe lines. Pattern looks blocky, with several rock-face-like sections side by side. Thin gold-brown hairlines run through the left half. Quartzite is a natural stone made mostly of quartz grains fused together under heat and pressure.

Where it works
Taj Mahal Quartzite suits kitchen benchtops and islands, splashbacks, vanities and feature walls. No two blocks are alike: the veining shown here belongs to Block 1988 only.
Caring for honed quartzite
Quartzite is harder than marble and generally resists etching from everyday acidic spills, but it is still a porous natural stone. Seal it after installation, wipe spills promptly and clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner. A honed finish shows etch marks and scratches less than a polished one.
